I tried every thing and now I see-its the yeast little thing-HAHAHA (that's straight from my roommate who has endured the last three Orange Roll sessions)
MY YEAST IS BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Three attempts with bad yeast-How did I not know? Well, I kind of did-but thought it would work anyway and I didn't want to go to the store. Oh silly me. OK, so I'll get new yeast. I guess the good news is I figured it our before I made the 26 nut rolls on thanksgiving day when the stores are closed and i can't get new yeast!
So pictures of the orange rolls will have to wait..
so in my usual stubborn way, I have not succeeded in making bad yeast good. Guess its like people-you can only work with what you have and expect only what they can produce. Can't turn a pig's ear in to a silk purse. Yeast. UGH!

well what do you know. They are rising finally. four hours later. I'll snap a pic after they come out of the oven. I guess if you wait long enough and are patient enough and give them jsut what they need-they can surprise you. People and orange rolls! :)
ReplyDeleteI am THRILLED that I have a sister who not only can count, but she can cook really well, and she's very generous. The orange rolls are a real treat. I wouldn't let anyone else have any except the family b/c otherwise you will be making dozens and dozens and dozens of orange rolls for everybody! Remember the debate in high school? Made orange rolls for months.
ReplyDeleteNow about the nut roll, don't forget, we are a big family (hint hint) and I hope we're at least in the mid-large range box for cookies. They don't last a week around here!
Wish I was there to help (just kidding). Love, your PCC (pastry cooking challenged) sister.
Has anyone ever told you that you are insane?
ReplyDeleteYour sister, Joelle
