Well, I have learned my lesson on blogs. I just spent an hour uploading pictures and shazam! something happened and I deleted the entire post. Just like having to do my orange rolls over again because I turned the oven on by accident on Sunday. that's another story for later in the blog today.
For now: the dreaded boxes. The pictures are in reverse order because I can't figure out how they post. I post them in order-but that is not what happens when they get posted. Oh well-you'll get the idea if you look at the pictures and read the description below.
I hate making the boxes so it was great to have help this year. Paula came over yesterday and started on them with me-we worked about three hours together . then today, Joanne came over and we really plowed through the boxes. We worked very efficiently for another 3 hours. so total time: 12 man hours -just to make those little boxes your cookies get sent to you in.
Here's the process:
First you make the box. Well-you make about 100 of them, different sizes. remember? S/M/L.
Then you put two pieces of saran wrap in each one. ( to keep them fresh-I hope you re wrap each time you finish having a few cookies-they don't stay fresh like the ones in the store with preservatives-theses are fresh homemade!)
then you cut a piece of food grade decorative wax paper for each one (so that is about 100 pieces-cut exact to size for each box).
Then you cut three times that many pieces of wax paper to put inside the boxes between each layer of cookies-so in total you are cutting about 400 pieces of tissue-to exact size.
Then you line each box that has the saran wrap layer, with one of the pieces of tissue paper.
Then you stamp 100 labels with the famous "from the kitchen of Judy Bucklen" label.
total Box making time: 12 hours-working fast and having done this for the last 20 years....
Tomorrow we/I start Baking.
Honey, I hate to tell ya, but the re-wrapping doesn't happen - the cookies don't last long enough to go stale! ;]
ReplyDeletewell I guess I'm really happy to hear that-but if they do-don't leave them naked out in the cold!! PLEASE!!
